Cawareness Initiative Q & A
Who is this for?
Cawareness Initiative is for the places that hold space in the social fabric of society—and want to do it with more care, clarity, and connection.
This work is for:
- Third-places (spaces where people gather outside home and work)
- Local businesses that want to be true community anchors, support employees wellbeing, and reduce risk
- Schools and youth-serving programs focused on belonging, accessibility, stability, and long-term wellbeing
- Community centers, nonprofits, and local agencies working close to the real needs of neighbors
- Leaders and teams who want practical ways to reduce harm, build trust, and strengthen relationships in the workplace or community
- Developers that want to reduce risk and increase community value by building with rather than simply for people
- Civic groups and local agencies wanting to reach people who often feel unseen or unwelcome
If you’re building a space or creating a program where people feel safe to be human — and where belonging is lived and upheld — Cawareness helps weave and bind those threads throughout the community.
How can I get involved?
The best way to get involved right now is to email me. We welcome ideas, partnership inquiries, and introductions to community-serving spaces that want to strengthen belonging in practical, everyday ways. We are currently seeking Board Members, connect with us for more information.
What is the purpose of Cawareness Initiative?
Cawareness Initiative focuses on strengthening belonging and community wellbeing by helping community-serving organizations and businesses become more relationally intelligent—places that reduce harm, build trust, and help neighbors feel safe to be human.
How can I support the Cawareness Initiative?
At this time, funding and donation requests are on hold while fiscal sponsorship is sought. The most helpful support right now is:
- Participate in surveys or community listening efforts when they’re available
- Share the initiative with a school, business, or community organization that may want to collaborate
- Offer partnership leads, space leads, or introductions
Where can I find more information about community pilots?
You can find updates and transparency notes on the Pilots page. We update it as milestones are reached and new materials are ready to share. (Pilots are currently under construction)
Are you a 501(c)(3)?
No. Cawareness Initiative is currently seeking fiscal sponsorship. We’ll update the website as soon as official status changes.
Are donations tax-deductible right now?
Not at this time. Funding and donation requests are on hold while fiscal sponsorship is in progress.
What is Cawareness™?
Cawareness™ combines awareness and care, emphasizing not just noticing what’s happening but responding supportively to oneself and others. It focuses on strengthening the ‘in-between spaces’ of community life—conversations, struggles, and healing—upheld with authenticity in everyday moments. Cawareness™ is versatile, adapting to the needs of different people and spaces.
What is a “third-place”?
A third-place is a community space where people gather, unwind, and build informal community—more like a community living room. It may be in the form of a café, library, or other civic center—where people can connect and be a part of the whole.
